I actually have another post cooking and I will drop it ASAP but in the meantime allow me to share one or two theories of mine about how this game could end.First of all, BM is winning. Every single person on the field were being fed the expectations of Hiori passing to Isagi or Hiori shooting the ball for himself.
The key of this interaction for our analysis is that sae’s spirals in his ego eyes are really highlighted and his text bubble is black, showing that what he’s saying is related to his ego. Though before said 1v1 we have a conversation between rin and sae where sae seems to not grasp the concept of rin’s “dangerous zone”. But why exactly hiori couldn’t find himself fired up until now ? And with this we’ve seen everything we need to use for hiori’s case. Knowing what I know now about Hiori has further cemented his character in my mind and heart and I can see the beginning stages of Kaneshiro plotting out what Hiori would become to Isagi. When Hiori passed to Isagi for a shot and Isagi was not able to reach the pass, it appeared subconsciously that Hiori did not have much faith that Isagi would keep up with him and went back to supporting Rin/Shidou. And although this is only a glimpse of what we see and get to experience so we don’t see a proper ego we can see the beginnings of the Hiori we know now. He’s doing all these one-twos around their opponents, keeping up with Rin’s speed, keeping eyes on the full field, and reacting perfectly.
The final pass of the game that Isagi scored off of, even had Hiori admitting he didn’t think Isagi would score. Even later on we can see that Hiori is quick with his passing and vision processing that while Rin had no complaints when cooperating with Hiori, he was wanting Isagi and Nanase to go faster. Hiori is noticed to have excellent passing ability and although it’s not the focus of the match, we also see he is skilled with dribbling/ball control. This is the first time we can correlate that Hiori, despite identifying himself as a striker, can be a support to Isagi where other people may not be able to relate. He’s playing as he always has and putting passes where he thinks the field would benefit from the most.
- So when he finally got a sign that maybe there was a different way, a better way to play, he took it, fully actualizing his ego and steadying his resolve to create the best striker in the world.

One can wonder but i think it’ll be about the fastest possible, one that challenges the striker who he passes to by forcing them to play by reflex to score. An idea that i talked about with @ hesharyu on twitter was that he would have tetris meta vision eyes as it could be similar to isagi’s and also because he did use the example of tetris when explaining plays by reflex after all. Reo’s chameleon ego is about making nagi the best so his meta vision design is made to look like a chameleon’s eyes looking for his prey, that being nagi. My favorite moments in Blue Lock, outside of the goals, are seeing the little moments during games that the characters interact with one another. Everyone thought he was passing to Rin, however Hiori, as a pace changer and someone that sees the whole field, saw a relatively free Nagi running into the box and Hiori passed to the most optimal location for a striker to be. Now a proof that this will surely happen is based on the fact that each matches have ended with isagi doing a crossflow with a character who had a rebirth of sorts thanks to isagi. So while isagi may not be a better striker than kaiser, he will still become the heart of bastard munchen because he embodies the most the philosophy of BM. And so Hiori’s awakening will surely be about him immersing himself in his plays by reflex, he will try to find the best striker available by reflex and challenge them through his passes. Isagi himself said that he doesn’t want any assists in the UBERS game but because of his rational playstyle and lack of finishing technique he still assisted kaiser in his goal. So in this sense we can surely expect hiori to be more of a playmaker based character off of this. Here sae has finally found and accepted his original ego, similarly to how bachira had the same spirals in his eyes in his awakening in the 4v4 of the second selection which you can see here.

And the fact that he will always try to find the best striker available instead of going for isagi is actually an advantage for isagi, because if he gets a pass from hiori this means that he is the striker with more heat to the goal, moreso than kaiser. And if we go to the scene where ego explains flow we see that ego talks about entering flow through the use of things like smartphones, which callsback to hiori’s use of video games to trance himself and forget about his life. Because unlike sae, he never found a striker that made his ego’s passion burn brightly, up until he found isagi. Though we are shown that he doesn’t really continue being a striker as for the rest of the backstory we never see him score afterwards, only passing to rin, except the one time he 1v1’s rin to get their dream back. Where he passes by following his ego, rin appears, sae’s eyes light up and shine as brightly as they could, similarly to each strikers did when they found their ego.
So I haven’t really been involved in fandom for years but I felt the urge to get involved because I absolutely adore Blue Lock and its characters.

The thrill of watching such a passionate guy attempt to hold his ground against monsters, finding ways to reinvent himself just to keep up a bit longer. To Hiori, Isagi is that game character with low specs who just needs to level up a little bit more in order to be able to fight end-game bosses. I could actually stop this post right here as it should be clear by now why Isagi is having an even bigger impact on Hiori during the NEL. So in Hiori’s mind as a gamer, he sees Isagi as this character whose stats are not high enough but yet attempts to fight the end game boss. Nanase and Hiori were trying to be pieces to help Rin and Shidou but Isagi actually tried to go for a goal by aiming for an open space on the field.
